An Intro to 3DS Max
Finally! An update. For the past couple months, I’ve been in classes which are 2 or 3 continuous months instead of the usual one month. This update is for the 3D class I’ve been in since October. The project we’ve been working on is an architectural project – to recreate either a currently existing building, or to create a building from a body of writing. For instance, I’m recreating the Okiya (Japanese Geisha House) from a book called “Geisha of Gion” written by Mineko Iwasaki. A classmate of mine is rebuilding the Temple Mount from the information in the Bible. Quite interesting. Month one was mostly learning how to model. In the second month they showed us texturing and lighting, and this month, we’ve been learning about animating and other tips and tricks. It’s quite difficult because pretty much none of us have used 3DS Max before, so to have to create a finished building from scratch is pretty *wow* but… we’re managing… The Final render is due in on Tuesday… so I still have a lot to do and very little time but, hopefully I’ll manage…
Enough talking! Here are some renders. Some are just the model without the textures, and then I’ve got some textured images too… I’m still working on doing the inside of the building, and then I have to put more lights in… and then animate the whole thing o_O

Finally, ADG!
So I finally caught up to this month’s class ADG – Advanced Computer Graphics. I have been doing more work and tutorials in both Illustrator and Photoshop this month, as well as beginning to incorporate more of my own designs into the work unlike the main focus of last months Graphics class, which was to help us get started on the programs. The first project we did was to render a mechanical object of our choice in 3D. We first made a sketch and took pictures of our object to help us understand the perspective and lighting. Then we drew it in Illustrator.
Trying to get the main shadows and highlights. Not too worried about perspective at this point…
Close up of the lens area.
The Wire Frame of my Camera. I’ve got many layers there, and a mesh or two… The text was pen tooled in because Canon’s font is copyrighted and I can’t grab it =)
And my final project! I think I did a pretty job, considering I’m still new to Illustrator. The color of the camera is a more gold brown. This is because when I took the picture of my camera (in which I constantly used for reference) The light reflected off my brown table, making my camera look brown. I like it that way though =)
We used our objects to make an ad. As you can see, I pen tooled the Canon writing (again). I also changed the color of my camera to make the ad tie in together as a whole.
