TPL Class Activity

One of the class activities was to create a movie poster. We had one hour and a bunch of random images (a cumilation of free stock photos) to come up with a movie and to make a poster for it, which would have the movie title, actors/actresses, a tag line and the date. I picked two images and came up with a movie called Blind, starring some of my classmates and my brother.

Cheetah Painting

Our second mini project was a digital painting. We came up with a character (from a story made up by our teacher’s 5 year old) and drew him/her. One of the animals in the story was a Cheetah, which I took and cartoonised, as well as personalized. The background was a build up of brushes, which gave myself a base layer of colors. My sketch was scanned into the computer, and I created new layers and painted over my sketch.

Video Player Skin

Video Player Skin

This was the first ‘mini project’ excercise we did in class. We had a day to think about the design concept of the skin, and four hours in lab to complete it. Program used was Photoshop. I had some fun with it. I was going for a more grungy look. I’ve made 2 CD covers at my time at Full Sail so far, so I decided to take that and go with it. The little scribble on the top left corner is actually the figure of the girl I drew, which is also in my previous CD cover design. It’s kinda rough, and I like it that way, but I would have to refine it a lot more if it were to become a real project.

Finally, ADG!

So I finally caught up to this month’s class ADG – Advanced Computer Graphics. I have been doing more work and tutorials in both Illustrator and Photoshop this month, as well as beginning to incorporate more of my own designs into the work unlike the main focus of last months Graphics class, which was to help us get started on the programs. The first project we did was to render a mechanical object of our choice in 3D. We first made a sketch and took pictures of our object to help us understand the perspective and lighting. Then we drew it in Illustrator.

Trying to get the main shadows and highlights. Not too worried about perspective at this point…

Close up of the lens area.

The Wire Frame of my Camera. I’ve got many layers there, and a mesh or two… The text was pen tooled in because Canon’s font is copyrighted and I can’t grab it =)

And my final project! I think I did a pretty job, considering I’m still new to Illustrator. The color of the camera is a more gold brown. This is because when I took the picture of my camera (in which I constantly used for reference) The light reflected off my brown table, making my camera look brown. I like it that way though =)

We used our objects to make an ad. As you can see, I pen tooled the Canon writing (again). I also changed the color of my camera to make the ad tie in together as a whole.

DCG Final Project

Our final project for DCG was to design either an album cover, or a DVD cover for a band or movie of our choice (or of our own imagination). I had done a CD cover the month before in DAT, so I took that band and idea and ran with it. I came up with two totally opposite concepts.

From the DAT class, I decided to take my old band at home, and warp it into something more usable. I came up with Gabriel, a Christian Punk Rock Alternative band with an Album title of “Aurora” based on the hit song “Aurora”. (I actually wrote several songs, you can check them out in the DAT post down below.) However when I was trying to come up with an image for the CD Cover, all I could think of was angels – so I took that and ran with it… and tried it out. But, I didn’t like where it was going at all so I made another one.

On the wings of Angel Gabriel

I did some sketching, got some ideas and put them into Illustrator. I also looked at other images of wings and tried to mush it all together. Made an illustrator girl and then later attached the wings to her.

And here is the final product. The songs on the back of the album are actually real songs, written by myself. Some are finished… Some are in the process of being finished… and if you haven’t noticed yet, Music is a huge part of my life ;)

And here’s Frankie – I’m just adding him in here for fun. He’s a little something we played around with in class. I really like it though so here he is!
